01
Pioneering New Approaches to Sustainable Design in Water and Transport Sectors leading to £280k in GovUK R&D Funding.
Water and transport sector teams struggled to identify and implement the most effective design choices to meet ambitious WaterUK and National Highways carbon reduction targets.
We provided comprehensive training in carbon reduction, conducted workshops to unearth the design decisions with the best potential for carbon reduction, and developed design optioneering workflows.
Water and transport sector teams gained the ability to make informed decisions regarding carbon reduction. For example, in a water treatment plant project, slab elevation had an optimal value which balanced excavation vs pumping emissions. In a highways project, a bypass option had high embodied carbon but led to freer flowing traffic and thus lower user emissions compared to small upgrades on the existing route. This new capability positioned them as industry leaders in sustainable design, moving beyond simple material swaps to impactful design decisions. This expertise also led to the client winning a £280k project contributing to the DfT Live Labs 2 - ADEPT programme.
02
Structural Engineering team to reduce technical delivery time by 80% by streamlining delivery of outputs

Manual & repetitive work for the design team resulted in inconsistent quality and lower profit margins.
Design optioneering tools developed at the centre of teams workflow, with cost and carbon comparison built in. Workflows optimised to respond to questions in client meetings and the rapid creation of deliverables.
The goal is to reduce technical delivery time from 3 weeks to 3 days, over a 6 month project duration with a 10 month payback period and ROI of up to 12:1 within 5 years. New capability for rapid data driven guidance for cost and carbon impacts of structural framing options.

03
IoT Start-up Achieves 1000% Growth After Strategic Pivot
An IoT start-up pioneering low-carbon district heating systems struggled to gain traction in the market and lacked a clear direction for future growth.
Facilitated a strategic planning process with the leadership team to reassess the company's product offerings and identify areas of focus. This led to a major streamlining of the product line, concentrating on products with the most strategic potential.
The refined product offering and business model led to a successful grant application securing £100k in funding. This funding led to the team winning a significant project that increased sales by over 10x.
